The Milford on Sea Food Week has now grown to over 100 individual events. The latest addition being a village ‘Come Dine with Me!’ event.  Loosely based on the TV series, the event enables people to get together to show off their home cooking skills & to have a bit of culinary fun with friends at the same time.  The numerous local eateries are also putting on a number of themed nights, in addition to also having ‘daily dining offers’. To name but a few, diners can experience ‘Thai Dancing’, ‘Italian Opera’, or even ‘Indian Elvis’ – all as they enjoy a quality meal!

The Sunday Food Market is also proving extremely popular.  In order to accommodate the 30 plus product stalls, the market has had to be expanded to include the village green as well as the High Street.  The market will have an array of local produce, from cheese & savouries, to cakes & jam. Hot food will also be available to suit all tastes, from chicken tikka & naan bread, to hot sweet crepes.  Added to this, the market has a pottery wheel the kids can have a try on, plus live music from the New Forest Plonkers.

Throughout the Food Week there are also daily events for the kids, cookery demonstrations, educational food talks & lots more. There is certainly something for everyone to enjoy.

The Food Week idea was generated by the Milford on Sea Community Tourism Group, which consists of a group of local business owners in the tourism industry & is chaired by the Parish Council.

Organiser David Long said “ It is great to see just about everyone in the village either getting directly involved in a Food Week event, or supporting us by planning to come & eat!’

Milford on Sea Food Week itself runs from the Bank Holiday Monday 5th April until Sunday 11th April 2010.
