The Bournemouth Forget Me Not Walk is a 5km sponsored walk in the vibrant town of Bournemouth and is open to people of all ages.

On the day, walkers will start at Royal Bath Hotel and walk down the cliff side and through the gardens in the centre of town and through the promenade to the seafront. Returning to Royal Bath Hotel entrants will celebrate their achievement with some light refreshments and collect a well-earned medal.

CELEBRITY FOOTBALL MATCH – AFCB LEGENDS VS THE CELEBRITIES

Expected to draw a sell-out crowd, the event will take place on Sunday 18th July, at 11.30 am with the kick off at 3pm. A significant allocation of funds raised by the match will be donated to Julia’s House, Poole’s Hospice for Children and the Youth Cancer Trust. The match will not only celebrate the club’s promotion to npower League 1 but will continue the bond between club and community by supporting crucial projects that benefit local, sick and disadvantaged children.

Bournemouth Sevens Festival crowned huge success

Following the third installment of the world-renowned sport and music extravaganza, the Bournemouth Sevens Festival announced record crowds of 20,000 people over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Having grown significantly since the inaugural event in 2008, the festival now hosts the largest rugby and netball festival in the world with 156 rugby sevens teams and 96 netball teams competing on the sunny south coast.

Live bands and DJs entertained the crowds all weekend in the Kopparberg Campsite, Nintendo Festival Stage and Carling Beer Tent. Radio 1’s, DJ Spoony also made an appearance spinning party tunes in the exclusive VIP Arena.

Other entertainment included a stunt parachute display, video diary room, Pitchside Jacuzzi, party bus, fancy dress, big screen TV and Rock-e-oke.

A host of celebrities and sports stars including England rugby internationals Austin Healey, Ugo Monye, Dan Hipkiss and Olympic gold medalist Jason Gardiner all enjoyed the weekend’s festivities in the exclusive V.VIP celebrity lounge.

Ugo Monye commented, “Bournemouth Sevens is bigger than any IRB tournament, it’s the biggest sevens tournament in the world”.

Festival Director, Roger Woodall, commented, “This year’s festival is unrecognisable from the first year as there’s so much more going on over the weekend. Diamond Sports Events put on such an amazing festival and pay a lot of attention to detail so people leave with a great experience and bring more and more people every year.“

LOOKING FORWARD TO LEAGUE 1 SOUTH!

After so many long, long trips last season, next season’s League 1 campaign gives Bournemouth less miles to travel for many years! The 2009-10 season finally came to an end on Sunday with Dagenham & Redbridge securing promotion in the final match, beating Rotherham 3-2 at Wembley! On the previous day, Millwall beat Swindon 1-0 to ensure another local derby for the Cherries.

So, we can now look forward to locals games against Southampton, Yeovil, Swindon, Brighton, Exeter, Bristol Rovers, Brentford, Charlton, Leyton Orient, Dagenham & Redbridge, Plymouth, reasonable length trips to MK Dons, Colchester, Walsall and compared to last season, only a few long distance games!

Season tickets are now on sale for what should be a fantastic and highly competitive campaign!
